Golden Bauhinia Square

Outside the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre along the promenade stands the 6-meter high  "Forever Blooming Bauhinia".  This is a gift from the Chinese Government to commemorate the establishment of the HKSAR on 1 Jul1997 and the square is where the handover ceremony of Hong Kong and establishment of HKSAR was held.

Every day there is a flag raising ceremony at the square from 7:50a.m. - 8:03a.m..  A special ceremony is held on the first of every month at 7:45a.m. - 8:13a.m.  It includes the flag raising ceremony and a performance by the Police Band and Police Pipe Band.
